THE LIVING ATLAS
A public survey of an expanding fictional world—built from original drawings, connected through deliberate storytelling, and governed by one creator who retains the final and occasionally inconvenient word.
THE CREATOR
Björgvin Guðjónsson
Artist, worldbuilder, sole creator of the Living Atlas, and Editor-in-Chief of Canon.
Every inhabitant begins with an original drawing by Björgvin. Those sketches are not disposable inputs: they are preserved as the first evidence that a resident existed, long before the world had found them an occupation, an address or an administrative difficulty.
Björgvin decides the names, character truth, visual direction, relationships and stories that become part of the world. Creative tools may analyse, propose and help develop his work, but they do not own the characters and cannot decide what becomes canon.
One hand begins the world. Many systems may offer paperwork.
WHERE TO BEGIN

These definitions explain the system and its public records. They do not create new lore, however persuasive the typography becomes.
- 01 · PUBLIC GUIDEThe Living Atlas
- A creator-governed fictional world explored through maps, inhabitants, stories and source records. It is not a procedural character generator, although the filing cabinets occasionally behave as if they have ambitions.
- 02 · GOVERNANCECanon
- A fact Björgvin has explicitly approved as true in the world. A polished image, persuasive paragraph or confident machine does not become canon merely by looking official.
- 03 · GOVERNANCEProposal
- A private possibility awaiting a creator decision. Proposals may be approved, changed, rejected or left to think about what they have done.
- 04 · VISIBILITYPublic
- Approved material released for visitors to see. Canon and visibility are separate: something can be true without being public, and public documents may represent an institution's claim rather than universal truth.
- 05 · SOURCE EVIDENCEFirst Recorded Sighting
- The original drawing from which an inhabitant entered the Atlas. It remains preserved as its own record and is never overwritten by later interpretations.
- 06 · VISUAL RECORDVisual Interpretation
- An approved visual development of the source sketch. It supports the inhabitant's record; it does not replace the hand that first found them.
- 07 · RELATIONSHIPWorld Thread
- A creator-approved connection between inhabitants, places, events or consequences. Geographic proximity alone is not a friendship, rivalry or regrettable committee appointment.
- 08 · PUBLICATIONRecorder
- The current public edition of approved events and records, written in the civic voice of a district that would prefer reality to submit copy before the deadline.
- 09 · PUBLIC RECORDArchive
- The public records room: inhabitant dossiers, approved imagery and released source evidence. Private notes and drafts remain off the desk.
- 10 · CREATOR SPACEObservatory
- Björgvin's private control room for arrivals, proposals and canon decisions. It is where possibilities wait before being allowed to inconvenience the public world.
- 11 · CARTOGRAPHYSurvey incomplete
- The honest state of a map whose surrounding world has not yet been approved. Blank terrain is an invitation, not permission for the interface to invent a country.

A turquoise tidal town built down the walls of a flooded cleft. Streets become canals twice a day, front doors acquire temporary piers, and an address is considered accurate only if it includes the hour, the tide and whether the occupant owns sensible boots.

A pale blue upland settlement of observatories, kite bridges and low white towers built where clouds repeatedly snag on the hills. Cloudrest catches fog for water, rents favourable winds and maintains that weather is public infrastructure even when the weather declines to attend meetings.

A rose-and-copper mineral reach where certain storms fuse the upper sand into temporary roads of coloured glass. Settlements travel between old wind towers, following surfaces that are excellent for wheels, terrible for horses and legally roads only after somebody has fallen over on them.
